Session 19 - Battle in the Skies

The Party wakes up the next day and Kali tells them all of her visions from Ranalia. They decide they should head towards Waterdeep before any of the visions come true. As they are flying a lightning storm begins and they soon come face to face with Team Angst. They are surprised to see them alive and after exchanging some barbs realize they are in league with Lionis. A fight breaks out and for the first time the Party is afraid for not just their lives but the lives of their dragons. They retreat into the tree line and Team Angst continues on their way Phandalin.

After a small rest the Party must decide whether to follow Team Angst to Phandalin or to dash as fast as they can to Waterdeep and send a message back to the Council. They decide the best course of action would be to continue on to Waterdeep. The believe Ilyana and Menet can handle the three young dragons and their riders so long as they have warning. They fly as fast as their dragons can travel making the two day day trip in half that time. Exhausted they land and immediately send the message to Illyana. Kali also sends a message to Ranalia.

Since they entered through the River Gate, Burr leads them to The Gentle Rest - an old, large, comfortable inn where it bends to meet Waterdeep Way. The inn has five floors and a dragon keep located on an alley behind the inn. The current proprietor is Marlak Buckman, a jovial, stout, middle-aged man of average height. The Gentle Rest has smooth, wooden floors and walls with typical furnishings for an inn. The shortest way to the dragon keep is the back door of the Inn, so that is where the Party enters after settling in their dragons for the night for a wel; deserved rest.

While Burr and Diz head to the bar and begin eating, Kali spies a man eating alone and engages him in conversation. She learns his name is Destrian Stonesworn, a 35 year old human. He has short, curled, black hair shaved on the left side and brown eyes. He has silky brown skin and stands about five and half feet tall with a muscular build. He is fairly average in all appearances except that his left hand is missing. After some questioning he let Kali know that there was a fire in the dock ward a few nights ago but that he doesn’t know too much about it. The Party retires for the night with plans for the next day: Head to the market for shopping, visit Black Staff Tower, and end the day at Burr's old Comedy Residence: The Singing Sword Tavern.
