Team Metallic lets the Party know that they were attacked by
the Manticores and that one of them flew off with their eggs. They chased it
through the woods to its Lair and asked The Party if they would be willing to
help them get their dragons back. They agree and the six of them head down the
path to fight the Manticore. They devise a plan to distract the Manticore while
Diz lowers herself down gets the eggs out.
The plan works, but as soon as the eggs are brought out of the Lair, Team Metallic takes off and leaves The Party behind to continue fighting the Manticore alone. After defeating it, The Party attempts to track down Team Metallic and sees that they have run off the path and into the forest. They decide to go back to Phandalin and let Illyana know what’s going on.
As they travel back down the path to town they are stopped by a familiar looking man, but they can’t quite place where they have seen him before. After a tussle, they manage to tie him up. He tells them that he is one of the leaders of the League of Dragons, a group working towards the freedom of all dragons. They believe that the Riders have subjugated the dragons and forced them to be no more than steeds. He wants The Party to go back to his encampment with him where he says he has evidence of corruption within the Dragon Riders.
The Party is then ambushed by Team Metallic. After a long fight they are able to defeat Team Metallic but the Man slips away. As they look over the bodies of the fallen they see that they are no longer the Riders that they knew. They have changed into monstrosities. They find a letter on one of the bodies with the names of all the new Riders from that year. There are checkmarks next to all the names except The Party. They load one of the bodies onto the cross bow apparatus and start heading back into town to meet with Illyana.
